The Australian Dementia Collaborative Research Centre identifies current research being undertaken across the country.
Their goals are to:
- further the prevention and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias,
- enhance awareness of dementia in the community and amongst health professionals,
- improve assessment and care for people with dementia and their families,
- optimise assistance for carers,
- improve nursing home care and
- enhance palliative care for people with dementia
A current project entitled “Trial of a community model of care for people throughout the progression of dementia” will try to provide evidence-based guidelines for the recognition, assessment and management of people with dementia.
