UK Health and Care Minister Ivan Lewis announced last week that the government is providing an additional GBP80 million for ‘extra care’ housing on 25 sites. The housing programs will be aimed at those with dementia and long-term conditions.

In presenting a cheque to one of the sites, Mr. Lewis and Sir Michael Parkinson, the UK Dignity Ambassador, noted that the program was about ‘offering people a choice’.

A list of the sites is included in this BBC article.

IAHSA is honored to have Mr. Lewis as a member of our Honorary Host Committee for IAHSA’s 8th International Conference in London, July, 2009.
