Have you ever wanted to be King or Queen for a Day? At the Mountdale Nursing Home in Leigh, England they have found a way to make this dream happen for some of the residents! The Olive Parkinson Memorial Fund (named in honor of a resident) gives elderly the opportunity to go on a dream outing and be a King for a Day. The first resident selected for an adventure was John Javin, 87, who decided to travel to Arundel Castle, in West Sussex. Matron of the home Marie Edwards oversees the fund and hopes to organize two trips each month. And the family of Olive Parkinson is very pleased with what the fund will accomplish – “The outings will give them something to look forward to. It will be amazing. My mother would have been highly delighted.”
