As we get older we tend to forget things, some little and some not so little.  Where are the car keys?  When is my doctor appointment?  How do I get home?

European researchers in the EU-funded HERMES project are using information and communication technologies to develop a user-friendly system that will both support older people when their memories fail and offer memory-boosting exercises.

The prototype is tested in the user’s home and it will ultimately provide three key services:  reminders of recent conversations; management of daily schedules and tasks; and exercises to strengthen the user’s memory.

The first prototypes should be available by the middle of 2009.
