In late February, the Scottish Government released a report setting out its strategy for further development of telecare.  Major elements include:

  • Telecare to contribute significantly to the achievement of personalised health and social care outcomes for individuals.
  • Telecare to contribute significantly to delivering wider national benefits in areas such as shifting the balance of care and the management of long term health conditions.
  • Local partnerships to maintain telecare within local service planning.

In the US, development of health-related IT is also a focus for the Obama adminstration, with major input from IAHSA’s technology partner CAST.
