The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare issued their Health and Community Services Labour Force 2006 report this month.

According to the report Australia’s health and community services labour forces have grown at a steady rate from 2001 to 2006, mostly in major cities.    Finding an adequate number of workers in remote areas continues to be a challenge.

This is a good sign as the population ages and more emphasis is being placed on providing ageing services in the community rather than in an institutional setting.
