The OECD recently released a report providing an overview of the LTC workforce with responses from its member countries to a growing demand for LTC workers.

Given the demographic challenges ahead, the report, The Long Term Care Workforce: Overview and Strategies to Adapt to a Growing Demand, looks at a variety of factors effecting the ability of countries to meet the needs of the elderly population.   The report identifies several solutions being considered to manage a growing demand for LTC workers, including ways to increase the numbers of workers, making better use of available labour capacity and reducing the need for LTC workers by improving productivity.

The LTC workforce is a major theme at IAHSA’s 8th International Conference, with a major plenary and a variety of education sessions devoted to the topic.
