Two leading charities in the UK, Age Concern and Help the Aged, have agreed to merge into once comprehensive organization to represent the issues facing the elderly in the UK.   A recent interview in the Third Sector with the new CEO Tom Wright gives a glimpse into the complexities of the merger and the goals they hope to achieve.

In addition the newly merged charity recently published One Voice: Shaping Our Ageing Society a landmark report that examines the issues facing older people in the UK and challenges government and all political parties to transform the ageing process by commiting to ending pensioner poverty, banning all forms of age discrimination and ensuring older people can access better quality care and support.

IAHSA is honoured that Dianne Jeffrey, Chair of the new charity, will be giving the keynote address at our conference in London in July.
