NESTA [The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts] says that the UK is totally unprepared for an ageing society and they have offered to pay for ideas to get the country back on track.

In response to the UK government’s launch of their new ‘ageing strategy’, NESTA is challenging the public to come up with new approaches to ensure well-being for an ageing society and that can be replicated across the country.

As announced through a public service outlet, NESTA wants to hear from groups that believe they have workable suggestions for helping people age well and encouraging ‘age readiness’.   Up to 40 ideas will be selected and each will receive up to GBP50,000 from a total of GBP650,000.  The money will be used to pilot the ideas over a two to three year period.

We have invited NESTA to attend IAHSA’s 8th International Conference in London in July – the source of innovative solutions from around the world.
