A recent study by Alzheimer’s Australia predicts that Alzheimer’s Disease will be the costliest health condition in Australia by 2060.    And the study offered an unexpected surprise –  that the number of people estimated to have Alzheimer’s over the next 50 years is significantly greater than previously thought.

Causes for this increase may be attributed to earlier diagnosis and/or the fact that the population is living longer.

The report states that this is will result in significant consequences for health care system and quality of life and may require a change in focus from cardiovascular disease and cancer to neurodegerative diseases.
