The Australian government last week announced the launch of a charter of rights for older persons who receive care at home.   Australia has had a charter of rights for aged care facility residents for 12 years.

As reported in Australian Ageing Agenda, the charter will give older people a greater say in how they receive services and upholds their rights to have their complaints investigated fairly and confidentially.    The charter also touches on the right of home support staff to a safe working environment.

Do you have resident rights in your country?   Do they provide adequate protection for the residents in care homes and/or in the community?
