The Australian Nursing Federation recently commissioned a report by Access Economics that predicts work intensity for aged care nurses will double in the next 10 years and that nurses will be required to supervise more residents and more staff, sometimes across multiple locations.

“Unequal pay, increasing workloads and frustration at compromised quality of care are driving nursing from the aged-care sector”, according to the report.  The report calls for long-term financing avenues to be explored to help avert this disaster.
