Planning for the future has never been easy and it is becoming more complex every year as the world comes closer together and information flow is instantaneous.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies, in collaboration with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the New York Times, has created a tool kit to help understand the dynamic ‘revolutionary’ trends that offer both opportunity and risk in the years ahead.  Called Educating Globally Competent Citizens, the toolkit covers the following areas:

  • Population
  • Resource management and environmental stewardship
  • Technological innovation and diffusion
  • The development and dissemination of information and knowledge
  • Economic integration
  • The nature and mode of conflict
  • The challenge of governance

The document is geared toward the education of students so they can become more globally competent but the information can be valuable to everyone to increase their understanding of global dynamics and begin to shape strategies for dealing with them.
