Volunteers are a vital resource for IAHSA members around the world, providing much needed help for staff doing a wide variety of jobs, from direct interaction with residents to yard work.   Yet a recent study by Skills – Third Sector in England has revealed that more training and development is needed for people who manage volunteers.

The study shows that nearly half of people who manage volunteers have not received any training that would help them in their work.   It also shows that volunteer management remains undervalued and underfunded in many organisations, including those with the largest incomes.

I suspect this is true in countries other than England.  Share with our readers the state of training and utilization of volunteers in your country.
