The government of Singapore is taking some serious steps toward promoting information technology awareness and literacy among its seniors.

The funding for the Silver Infocomm Initiative will be almost doubled to help organise programs and incentives to encourage seniors to use IT.  The Initiative will also provide IT training at learning centres along with ‘hot spots’ around the island where seniors can get free access to computers and Internet services.

These types of initiatives not only ensure that seniors can keep up with new developments in the digital age but they also provide ways for seniors to keep in touch with family members who may be far away.
