Robots are increasingly becoming commonplace in all facets of society but Japan is leading the way with a range of robots that some say will help the world deal with the global ageing population.

As this iol scitech article points out a variety of companies, ranging from healthcare firms to car makers, are developing robots they say will provide physical and emotional help to the elderly and those caring for them.

There are many other types of technologies that help address the ramifications from global ageing, many of which will be explored during the IAHSA/CAST Technology Study Tour taking place in April 2012.    The tour will focus on trends in care provision and use of technology to adapt to the changing environment and consumer demands.    And you may even get to meet a robot!!!   If you have any questions, please contact iahsa@leadingage.org.
